Also called a mezzaluna, which is Italian for half moon, pizza rockers are efficient, easy to use, and toppings are less likely to stick to the blade. This one by American Metalcraft is a good one. Its 20" stainless steel blade is met with nylon handles at each end. Rockers provide more control than a pizza wheel and cut through the entire diameter of the pizza at one time. Even the thickest, crustiest crust will yield quickly with precision control. Unlike pizza wheels, rocking cutters have no moving parts so they don't fall apart. Put it in the dishwasher if you wish, but it is highly recommended to hand wash for longer life of the blade, since dishwasher detergent is abrasive and will dull the blade. So, don't shy away from the mezzaluna; try it for mincing and chopping herbs, to nuts, to chocolate. It's fun to experiment.
